Fukuoka City Encourages Companies to Allow Staff Power Naps

Fukuoka City says it has begun to encourage napping-at-work using a unique initiative. The city is collaborating with Nishikawa Co., Ltd., one of the leading producers of bedding items in Japan, and has begun distributing a special hooded blanket saying “Charging Now.” The city is encouraging companies to allow naps of 15~20 minutes for their staff to improve efficiency and prevent errors. Applications to participate in the program are being accepted online from https://powernap.fukuoka.jp. This is the first promotion of napping by a local government in Japan.
