Detailed plans for extending Tenjin-dori as a detour route for Watanabe-dori Ave. were announced at Fukuoka City Assembly on February 19. The city has been working on the project to reduce congestion on Watanabe-dori. The alternative route, Tenjin-dori, currently runs between Tenjin Chuo Park and Fukuoka City Hall. It will be extended up to Showa-dori Ave. to the north, while an additional route on the south will directly connect the street to Watanabe-dori. The plan is expected to be approved by September.
