Fukuoka City Prepares Grants for Low-Income Households

In response to the Japanese government’s decision to implement financial relief measures aimed at households with low incomes, Fukuoka City has assembled a supplementary budget proposal. The proposal is set to be submitted to a special city council meeting on the 29th. On the 28th, the government approved a budget of ¥2.2226 trillion from the fiscal 2022 reserve funds to cover various price control measures, including a ¥50,000 grant per child for low-income families with children. Fukuoka City has since assembled a supplementary budget proposal totaling more than ¥10.6 billion for its general account. The entirety of the funding comes from the central government, with each low-income household set to receive ¥30,000. Additionally, low-income households with children will receive a ¥50,000 grant per child. The supplementary budget proposal will be submitted to the special city council meeting on the 29th and is expected to pass and be enacted on the 30th. Source: NHK
