The Fukuoka City Subway has announced plans to play music as trains arrive into station platforms. Two kinds of melodies will be played on the Nanakuma Line, depending on whether the train is heading east or west. The subway will also introduce fuku-ekimae (secondary station names) to signs, which will provide information about the closest public facilities or landmarks. These signs will be posted on the walls and pillars of subway stations to promote local amenities and help people navigate their way around the city. The cost of the work will cost approximately ¥11 million. Source: Mainichi Shimbun, 2/20/2018
