Studying ways to maintain the yatai street stalls selling food, which are tourist attractions, Fukuoka City said it would start surveying how the operators of all 155 stalls conduct their business and interact with customers, and publicize the results on their website. The city is also considering withholding licenses to stall operators who do not improve after receiving a poor grade. The survey will be outsourced to a committee of retired prefectural police officers, who will grade the operators in about 20 categories.
