Fukuoka City to Support Canceled Student Athletic Events

While large sporting events for elementary, junior high, and high school students have been canceled for the school year of 2020, Fukuoka City announced plans to subsidize alternative tournaments. Plans include subsidies of ¥50,000 for the operational costs to provide opportunities for local student-athletes to exhibit the results of their hard work. Meanwhile, Kitakyushu City announced three more cases of the new coronavirus infection on June 8, bringing the cumulative total during the past 17 days to 143 and the total for Fukuoka Prefecture to 805.
