The Kyushu Bureau of Economy is running an online shochu sampling event with international influencers and buyers. It selected four distilleries to present their products in an online session, attended by the sommelier of Kura Master, LLC. and other buyers from France. While the spread of the new coronavirus takes away international marketing opportunities for local breweries, the event will allow attendees to share feedback and tips to enjoy those shochu liquors. Following the first edition that took place in July 2020, the organizer is now seeking local distillers who want to participate in the upcoming event in February 2021. Kyushu-based shochu brewers and Okinawa-based awamori producers can apply between Oct. 1 ~ Oct. 20. Also, the event will welcome some fifteen distillers to its business meeting in March.
