Fukuoka Governor Hiroshi Ogawa To Resign

Fukuoka Governor, Hiroshi Ogawa, currently hospitalized for cancer treatment, announced plans to step down from his post. Earlier today, Feb. 22, Ogawa met the Vice-Governor, Seitaro Hattori, inside Kyushu University Hospital to relay his decision to resign as of Mar. 24. Ogawa’s resignation letter was submitted to the chairperson of the assembly later on the same day. The governor had been eager to return to his job during his hospitalization; however, he decided to leave the position as his cancer treatments are projected to require a more extended period.
