Fukuoka Governor Ogawa Remains Hospitalized

The vice-governor of Fukuoka Prefecture, Seitaro Hattori, told a press conference yesterday that 71-year-old Governor Hiroshi Ogawa was diagnosed with primary lung adenocarcinoma. The period for Hattori to take over the governor’s duties has been extended to Mar. 31. Ogawa showed eagerness to return to the job as early as possible; however, according to various sources, including a major local newspaper, the governor is considering retiring from the post before his term expires. Ogawa had had surgery for hepatocyte cancer in 2017. Source: Mainichi / TNC1 / Yomiuri / TNC2
