Fukuoka Governor Seitaro Hattori said on Sep. 25 that he intends to forgo his entire salary for three months over the problems surrounding prefectural government. Including the winter bonus reduction, the measure would total about 7.8 million yen. The cut requires an ordinance, which he hopes to propose during the assembly session ending Oct. 16. He said further reductions could be considered if independent investigations uncover additional serious matters.
