Fukuoka Governor Requests Locals Refrain From Hanami Parties

Fukuoka Prefecture requested its residents to continue refraining from participating in hanami parties this year. Sakura festivals at prefectural parks (Tenjin Chuo Park and Nishi Park) will again be canceled, and private parties involving eating and drinking are discouraged at seven other parks. While the ongoing infection control program will be lifted after Mar. 6, the prefecture designates the following month (3/7 ~ 4/7) as the ‘infection-spike prevention period,’ in which people are asked to continue anti-infection measures with extra care. Smooth and safe resumption of economic activities, especially at local eateries, will come along with continued requests for guests to form small groups only (max. four people.)
