Fukuoka Mayor Hints at Park Equipment Closure – Request Citizens Remain Put for Golden Week

Fukuoka City updated their information regarding its support program for local eateries. The program refunds ¥500 to customers who order delivered meals of ¥1,000 or more between Apr. 7 ~ May 6. To ensure those purchases are trackable, only e-payments can be used in the campaign and the refund will be made in points or coupons. Participating business include nationwide meal-delivery services (Demae-can, Line Delima, D Delivery, Nasse, and Uber Eats *some of these services are not operational yet) as well as individual restaurants. The city will continue to accept applications from restaurants and bars that wish to participate in the program until 17:00 on Apr. 23. Meanwhile, Mayor Soichiro Takashima responded to the inquiries and concerns from the citizens on his blog. To reduce the risk of in-park infections, the city would consider closing some of its park equipment for the time being. Also, the mayor reminded people of the importance of responsible acts amongst individual citizens to reduce personal contacts and urged them not to travel outside the prefecture during the coming Golden Week holidays.
