Fukuoka Prefecture has disciplined two male employees for misconduct. A 25-year-old engineer in the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Department was suspended for three months after being referred to prosecutors for shoplifting five food items worth ¥756 in Kitakyushu. Though not indicted, he admitted to stealing from the same store multiple times due to financial and job-related stress.
Separately, a 26-year-old staff member in the Welfare and Labor Department received a 10% pay cut for eight months after fraudulently claiming ¥88,380 in welfare-related allowances over 211 instances. Both employees expressed remorse. The prefecture’s internal audit office issued a public apology for the incidents. Source: NHK
