Fukuoka Prefecture, four municipalities and 10 private companies are working together to renovate vacant homes for sale to families with children. The partners signed their agreement in August, with Iizuka and Onga among the participating municipalities. Local governments will seek owners interested in selling, while the prefecture helps with inspections and inheritance-related issues. Private firms will purchase, renovate and sell the properties, with the initiative intended to attract younger households. The prefecture had approximately 126,000 unused homes in 2023, about 1.6 times the number 20 years earlier. Source: FBS News / Fukuoka Prefecture
