Fukuoka City’s fiscal 2026 general account budget is projected at a record ¥1.12–1.15 trillion, driven by infrastructure, education, and safety projects. The plan includes funds to study extending Nanakuma Line subway trains from four to six cars to ease rush-hour congestion, as well as examining a future link to Fukuoka Airport’s international terminal. The city will also upgrade school lunch programs with new cooking and cooling equipment, and allocate funds for disaster preparedness and visitor management measures.
