Facing a recruitment shortage, the Fukuoka Prefectural Police will introduce a new exam track from FY2025 targeting job seekers with at least two years of work experience under age 35. This new route replaces the traditional general knowledge exam with the widely used SPI aptitude test to ease entry barriers.
Grip strength standards for physical tests have also been lowered—from 45kg to 35kg for men and from 25kg to 20kg for women. The force currently offers three recruitment tracks: university-level, high school-level, and specialist investigator (language/IT). Officials hope the new system will help attract a more diverse talent pool amid declining applicant numbers. Source: NHK
