On January 6, Fukuoka Prefecture disclosed a leak of personal data involving approximately 9,500 new coronavirus patients. A file containing names, residential addresses, and symptoms of all those patients became unprotected between November 30, 2020, ~ January 6, 2021, after a medical staff member mistakenly sent out an email that gave access to an unrelated man. Although the email receiver shortly responded to inform the error, the situation did not get resolved due to the failure to report the mistake. As of January 6, the prefecture deleted the online file. Source: Mainichi / Asahi / RKB
