Fukuoka Prefecture and Tokyo-based convenience store giant Lawson signed a general agreement on regional revitalization on Mar. 13. Under this agreement, both parties will cooperate in the development and sale of new products using local delicacies as ingredients and in using Lawson’s 24-hour stores to promote public safety. This is the first agreement of its kind between the Prefecture and a convenience store chain. Lawson will begin a month-long Fukuoka-themed campaign at its 1,000 outlets in Kyushu on Mar. 19, during which time it will sell Amaou strawberry jam and other new products. As part of the Prefecture’s efforts to promote dishes made from local wild game, wild boar hot buns and rice balls will be available at Lawson stores in Fukuoka, Saga and Nagasaki prefectures. Both parties will also cooperate on public safety measures aimed at women and children as well as efforts to reduce drunk driving. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun, Mar. 14
