Fukuoka Prefecture and Kitakyushu City exchanged a memorandum of understanding with a Russian airline specializing in cargo flights. Volga-Dnepr Airlines, LLC, based in London, aims to operate charter flights and carry car-manufacturing robots and satellites from and to Kitakyushu, taking advantage of the twenty-four hour operation of the airport. Meanwhile, Kitakyushu plans to increase the number of large aircrafts taking off/landing in order to take advantage of its 3,000-meter runway.
