Fukuoka Prefecture to Direct Businesses To Close – 30 More COVID-19 Cases 

Local authorities in Fukuoka Prefecture are preparing to request some business closures as early as April 14. Fukuoka Governor Hiroshi Ogawa revealed in a TV interview that he has already earmarked the kinds and numbers of local businesses that will be subject to the upcoming directive. He explained that the categorization of businesses will follow the pattern set by Tokyo. (*) The request will likely apply to the entire prefecture once it takes effect. The prefecture is still consulting with experts before announcing a final decision on April 13. Fukuoka Prefecture saw 30 more confirmed cases of COVID-19 infections on April 12, though the region anticipates more cases once local medical institutions go back to weekday operations.
