Fukuoka Prefecture To Lift Its Own COVID-19 Alert

The Fukuoka Prefecture in Japan has decided to lift its own COVID-19 alert that was activated in response to the spread of the novel coronavirus since December last year. The decision was made as the number of new infections has been decreasing and the utilization rate of hospital beds has also declined. The lifting of the alert comes approximately two and a half months later. Governor Hattori commented on the government’s decision to leave the wearing of masks up to personal judgement from March 13th, saying “it is a step forward. We want to clearly show various concrete examples so that citizens can make appropriate judgements based on the situation.” Source: Fukuoka Prefecture / NHK
