Fukuoka Requests Early Lifting of State of Emergency

On Feb. 24, Fukuoka Prefecture requested an early lifting of the state of emergency from the national Government, as the region’s medical situation has since cleared criteria for lifting the SOE as set by the central Government. As of Feb. 22, the occupancy rate of hospital beds was 49.6%, falling below 50% for the first time after the issuance of the SOE. The average number of daily infections for the past seven days also remained below 180. The prefecture intends to gradually ease the business regulations once the SOE gets lifted. Meanwhile, as of Feb. 24, the Government pointed out that it might need to further observe Fukuoka Prefecture’s situation. An advisory committee will be gathered on Feb. 26 to discuss the matter.  Source: NHK 1 / NHK 2
