On Dec. 12, Fukuoka Prefecture reported a resident of the area had close contact with an Omicron patient. The person arrived at Kansai International Airport from overseas on Dec. 5, five days before the omicron variant of the new coronavirus was detected in a passenger on the same flight. The person reportedly stayed home during the past few days; they are now in the prefecture’s accommodation facility, taking PCR screenings once in two days. Fukuoka Prefecture is preparing two local accommodation facilities to quarantine those who arrive overseas. Source: Asahi / Nikkei / Mainichi
