According to figures released by the Japan National Tourist Organization (JNTO), Fukuoka hosted 336 conferences in 2014, up 83 from the previous year, marking the sixth year in a row that Fukuoka has hosted the second most number of conferences behind Tokyo. Fukuoka’s 83-conference bump was the most in all of Japan. Tokyo (23 Wards) ranked first with 543 conferences, and Kyoto came in third with 202. Throughout Japan, 2,590 conferences were held, attracting 1.99 million participants including 178,000 foreigners.
