The Mori Memorial Foundation’s Institute for Urban Strategies released findings from a study into the most appealing cities in Japan outside of Tokyo. The research took a range of indicators and a survey of residents into account before announcing their findings. The cities are ranked according to economy and business, research and development, cultural exchange, livability, environment, as well transportation and accessibility. Kyoto topped the chart, with Fukuoka in second place, and Osaka finishing third. The institute puts together a Global Power City list every year. However, this is the first time that they have compiled a list of cities in Japan. Source: Kobe Shimbun, 10/5/2018
