Fukuoka Starts Building “One Health Center” in Miyama

Fukuoka Prefecture has begun construction of the “One Health Center” in Miyama to advance integrated research on human, animal, and environmental health. Governor Hattori attended the groundbreaking ceremony on November 5. The ¥20 billion facility will consolidate the Prefectural Institute of Public Health and Environmental Science, a new Animal Health and Sanitation Office, and an interactive zone where residents can learn about One Health initiatives. The project aims to strengthen research partnerships among national, academic, and private institutions, addressing zoonotic diseases that make up about 60% of infectious illnesses. The center is scheduled to open during fiscal 2027. Source: Fukuoka One Health / Fukuoka Prefecture / KBC
