Fukuoka Subway Ticket Prices Increase

The Fukuoka Transportation Authority is set to raise some subway fares by ¥10 timed to align with the nation-wide sales tax increase in 2014. The increased fares will be proposed to the Fukuoka City council this month and are expected to be implemented by April 2014. The fares for adults (currently ¥250 ~ ¥360) and children (currently ¥160 ~ ¥180) will both increase by ¥10; the One Day Pass (currently ¥600 weekdays, ¥500 weekends and holiday) will increase by ¥20. Monthly tickets will increase too. The “Otonari Kippu” one station ticket, however, will remain at ¥100. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun, 12/6
