Fukuoka To Open Nighttime Junior High School

The Fukuoka City Board of Education will open a night junior high school next April so students who have not received enough compulsory education due to non-attendance can study again. The Fukuoka City Board of Education conducted a questionnaire survey between April and May of this year and decided to establish the school after receiving approximately 200 applicants who wished to attend the school. The school will accept about 40 students aged 15 or older living in Fukuoka City and offer classes in nine subjects from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., five days a week. According to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, there are 36 public night junior high schools in Japan, but none in Kyushu and Okinawa. Source: NHK
