The Fukuoka University Faculty of Medicine admitted at a press conference on Dec. 8 that the faculty has manipulated entrance exam results to the disadvantage of applicants who graduated from high school one year earlier or before. The university calculates the applicants’ high school records and awards it between 0~20 points to the score of the written exam. However, for those who graduated high school one year earlier, they added only a maximum of 10 points. For those who graduated high school two years earlier or before, no points were added. The vice president Hideki Kurose apologized about the matter and said that the possibility of the improper practice was pointed out during the government’s survey after the similar case against female applicants was revealed a medical university in Tokyo.
