Fukuoka’s 10th Basic Plan: Aiming for Global Talent

The Fukuoka Directive Council (FDC) has proactively engaged with Fukuoka City Hall, delivering a set of recommendations for the city’s “10th Basic Plan,” focusing on urban growth and global talent attraction. This plan, anticipated to be finalized by the 2024 fiscal year, will shape the city’s trajectory over the next decade. The FDC’s input, derived from various stakeholders including major economic and commercial entities, emphasizes the importance of developing Fukuoka into a hospitable hub for international professionals, in line with key redevelopment initiatives like the “Tenjin Big Bang.” Additionally, the proposals urge a broader regional approach that leverages tourism and business events to benefit the wider Kyushu area. Upon receiving the recommendations, Mayor Soichiro Takashima appreciated the inclusion of diverse viewpoints and showed an eagerness to also consider the younger generation’s perspective in shaping the city’s future.
