Fukuoka City’s oldest cinema, “Taiyo Theater” (commonly known as “Nakasu Taiyo”), which closed in March after 78 years and is currently undergoing demolition, is set to reopen in a new building on the same site. According to insiders, the new building will be developed by real estate giant Nomura Real Estate Development (Tokyo). It will be a mixed-use complex with 10 above-ground floors and one basement level, housing offices and restaurants. The plan includes a cinema on the third floor.
