Fukuoka’s Oldest Cinema “Nakasu Taiyo” to Reopen in New Building

Fukuoka City’s oldest cinema, “Taiyo Theater” (commonly known as “Nakasu Taiyo”), which closed in March after 78 years and is currently undergoing demolition, is set to reopen in a new building on the same site. According to insiders, the new building will be developed by real estate giant Nomura Real Estate Development (Tokyo). It will be a mixed-use complex with 10 above-ground floors and one basement level, housing offices and restaurants. The plan includes a cinema on the third floor. However, due to rising material costs, the project details might change. Construction is set to begin this December, with completion expected by December 2026. Source: Mainichi
