Kyushu Electric Power resumed power generation at the No. 4 reactor at the Genkai Nuclear Power Plant in Saga Prefecture back on July 13. However, the installation of anti-terrorism facilities required by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is expected to take until around February of next year, and so the plant will be shut down again on September 12, the day before the deadline for installation. Kyushu Electric Power Co. calls for as much power saving as possible, saying that even if power generation at the Genkai Unit 4 reactor resumes, the summer power shortage situation will continue.
