Hankyu Ferry, which operates a ferryboat service between Kitakyushu and Osaka, revealed that it intends to cut back service and sell two of its ferryboats. The move was attributed to discount tolls on expressways and the prospect that all expressway tolls would be eliminated. It also plans to release 80 employees. The company is already in contact with ferry companies in Europe and Southeast Asia about selling its ships.
