As the mercury hit a sizzling 30.2 degrees in Kitakyushu, an elderly gent couldn’t resist the icy allure of a mango-flavored ice cream. The senior citizen, cane in hand, was spotted in an unmanned store that sells everything from meats to frosty delights.
Caught red-handed on camera, the pensioner picked up the fruity dessert, glanced at the cash register, and sauntered out of the store without shelling out a yen. The store owner, watching from a distance, was quick to call the cops who arrived quickly and slapped cuffs on the 77-year-old jobless man under suspicion of theft. The store, it turns out, had been hit by a similar ice cream theft earlier this month.
In other news, the region has been sizzling, with the first scorching summer day of the year turning up the heat to a stifling 30 degrees plus in various areas of the prefecture, including Fukuoka and Kitakyushu. As the sun continues to beat down, folks are being urged to drink plenty of water to avoid heatstroke. Source: KBC
