On September 26, Fukuoka City revealed that they received permission from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to relax the height restriction for buildings in the Tenjin-Meiji-dori Avenue area, as well as structures along the Port of Hakata waterfront. The 75 meter height limit in the Meiji-dori area increased, which means that depending on the structure, buildings will now be able to stand from 76 to 115 meters tall. The limit for the Port of Hakata, which had been 70 to 90 meters, has been increased to 100 meters for all buildings. City officials hope that the news will help facilitate redevelopment projects in the city. Source: Sankei Shimbun, 9/27/2017
