Hita in Oita Prefecture and four neighboring Fukuoka municipalities established a joint tourism council on Oct. 2. Asakura, Ukiha, Soeda and Toho are joining Hita in promoting the Chikugo River–Hikosan Travel Corridor. The partnership brings together hot springs, traditional crafts, historic streets and natural attractions. It aims to encourage visitors to explore several communities and stay overnight rather than simply pass through. Plans include separate travel maps for rail, bus and car users, alongside joint product fairs targeting the Fukuoka metropolitan area. Source: NHK News / Yomiuri Shimbun
