Honda announced the production of their long-selling motorcycle Super Cub will be transferred to Ozu Town, Kumamoto Prefecture. The manufacturing process moved to China in 2012 to reduce costs, but a weak yen influenced the company to bring production back to Japan. Increasing emission regulations has meant that motorcycle manufacturers are reducing their output on models that do not sell so many units. At the end of August, Honda stopped manufacturing their 50cc mini bike Monkey after 50 years.. But the huge volume for the Super Cub means that the company can expect to recover costs on the new model which was modified to meet new environmental regulations. Source: Sankei Shimbun, 9/26/2017
