Honors List Announced – Work Done in Fukuoka to be Recognized

The Government of Japan has decided to confer decorations on 137 people for their work in Fukuoka Prefecture. The Spring Conferment of Decorations marks the first honors ceremony of the new Reiwa period. Recipients include Susumu Ishihara, the former head of JR Kyushu, who will receive the Order of the Rising Sun. Mr Ishihara served as president for seven years and was instrumental in opening the Kyushu Shinkansen train line. Other well-known figures on the honors list include the former Vice Minister of the National Land Agency of Japan and current Nishi-Nippon City Bank Ltd. Chairperson Isao Kubota, who will be awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure. Source: TNC, 5/21/2019
