So-called hydrogen stations will be built next year in Fukuoka City and Kitakyushu to supply hydrogen to fuel cell-powered automobiles, according to Fukuoka Prefecture, the planner of the operations, on November 15. They are the first local government in Japan to take the lead in hydrogen station placement. The objective is to create one of the few hydrogen highways in the country for the trial operation of automobiles that use fuel cells for power. The two cities are about 80 kilometers apart.
