Ceremonies were held to commemorate the opening of the first “Fukuoka Hydrogen Town” in Maebara, Fukuoka Prefecture, on October 11. The facility is for the conduct of practical experiments for fuel cell systems for the home that use hydrogen. These experiments, which will be conducted by the prefecture and the Fukuoka Strategy Conference for Hydrogen Energy over a four-year period in 150 households in the Minekazedai and Misakigaoka neighborhoods in that city, will be among the largest trials of their type conducted in the world.
