IDC Frontier Inc., a subsidiary of Yahoo! Japan, plans to add on to its Kitakyushu Data Center, one of its two main data centers in Japan. The company opened the Kitakyushu Data Center, the largest in western Japan, in 2008 offering data management services to Yahoo! Japan and its various subsidiaries, including online office supply store Askul and hotel booking service Ikyu. It also rents servers to other IT companies. By adding a seventh building to the current complex, IDC Frontier will boost its data storage capacity by about 20%. It will also adopt a system that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to control power consumption and other functions. With this addition, the company aims to respond to the increasing demand for data due to an increase in the number of videos posted online as well as the spread of IoT. Source: http://www.fiba.jp/
