Anna Rikitake, a 16-year-old high school student in Imari, Saga Prefecture, took the Grand Prize in the 22nd Japan Minwa (Folk Music) Festival 2009 held at NHK Hall in Tokyo and sponsored by the Japan Minwa Association. The festival is considered to be the most prestigious for that style of music in the country. It was Rikitake’s first appearance at the festival, and she became the youngest Grand Prize winner in contest history.
