Increased Home Drinking Leads to Record Shochu Sales

Kirishima Shuzo announced yearly sales of ¥62.5 billion for the term that ended in March 2020, marking its first increase in the last three years. The Miyazaki-based shochu manufacturer reported that the recent stay-home movement had reduced the volume of bottled shochu consumptions at bars and restaurants, but pushed up sales of carton-packaged products for individuals. A total of 89,725-kilo litters was sold between Apr. 2019 to Mar. 2020. Sources: Sankei / FNN
