Pet-friendly emergency shelters are becoming available in some municipalities in Kyushu. Kurume Cycle Family Park accepts with-pet evacuees while alert level 3 or above is in effect. During the torrential rainfall in 2021, up to 12 families stayed overnight with their pets at the facility. Also, Kumamoto Prefecture and Kyushu Animal Academy reached an agreement over the operation of evacuation spots for pets in 2021.
