Insect Named in Honor of Doctor Tetsu Nakamura

A group of researchers at Saga University named a newly found cecidomyiidae (insect) after Dr. Tetsu Nakamura. The ‘Massalongia nakamuratetsui’ is an insect measuring 2~3 mm in length, and was discovered in 2018. Being shocked by the news of Nakamura’s death in Afghanistan, one of the group members came up with an idea to mark his legacy. The international aid physician had a keen interest in insects.
