Insurance Premiums to Rise in Seven Regional Prefectures

The Japan Health Insurance Association, which handles the insurance for the employees of small and medium-sized businesses and their families, has formally set the insurance premiums it will charge for each prefecture starting in the fall. The rates will rise for seven prefectures in the region, with only those in Miyazaki Prefecture remaining unchanged. The insurance premiums differ by prefecture because the association wants to keep health care costs by region down. The premiums reflect per person medical expenses in each prefecture.
