Fukuoka Prefecture has signed an agreement with the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), the Oceania Zonal Volleyball Association, and the Japan Volleyball Association to establish the region as an international hub for promoting volleyball among the youth in Asia and Oceania. The agreement aims to foster young talent and enhance volleyball’s popularity and development across the region.
Under the agreement, Fukuoka Prefecture will use its existing talent discovery programs to identify promising young athletes. Additionally, the plan includes inviting coaches from various countries to participate in training programs to improve their skills and coaching methods. These efforts are expected to help nurture the next generation of volleyball players in Asia and Oceania.
The initiative will be formalized in a memorandum of understanding to be signed by the end of the year. The agreement will also enable Fukuoka to leverage its resources and facilities to host international volleyball events and training camps, further promoting the sport and fostering international exchange through sports.
Governor Seitaro Hattori emphasized that the agreement reflects a shared vision between Fukuoka and international volleyball organizations to advance the sport’s development in the region. He added that the collaboration would help Fukuoka move closer to its goal of becoming a globally recognized center for sports excellence.
