The 4th International Conference for Universal Design in Fukuoka 2012 will be held Oct. 12~14 at the Fukuoka International Congress Center and Fukuoka Kokusai Center. Universal design refers to broad-spectrum ideas meant to produce buildings, products and environments that are inherently accessible to both people without and with disabilities. This year’s theme for the convention is “Safety and Security”, after The Great East Japan Earthquake. Conference organizers are expecting around 1,2000 participants. The public is invited and encouraged to attend events held. For example, there will be an open symposium and a “emergency rescue equipment” showcase, featuring the products of 50 participating businesses that the public can attend. For further information on the events check out their English homepage at http://www.ud2012.net/index.en.html or call the organizer on 045-901-8420.
