Itoshima City plans to install an informational sign at the site of the 1945 Raizan Air Raid, which marks its 80th anniversary this year. On June 19, 1945, a single bomber from the formation that attacked Fukuoka City dropped incendiary bombs on the Raizan district, killing eight residents, including children. Remnants of the raid, such as a mountain cave used as a shelter and a damaged Jizo statue, still exist but are becoming lesser-known. In response to requests from local history groups, the city has included funding for the sign in its upcoming budget proposal, aiming for installation around June 19. Source: NHK
