The 17th Japan-South Korea Korean Strait Governor’s Conference was held at a Cheju, South Korea, hotel last week. Attending were the governors of the three Kyushu northern prefectures, Yamaguchi Prefecture, the governors of three southeastern South Korean provinces, and the mayor of one South Korean city. They issued a proclamation vowing joint cooperation for environmental actions and an emergency declaration about the financial crisis that erupted in the United States.
